Crowdsourcing and the surprises of tomorrow’s working world

the working world is changing. And it seems that it is changing more rapidly than ever before. Technological development and  innovation in communications have created new possibilities, new opportunities and new jobs which we never thought they would ever exist.

What does the working world of tomorrow look like? Let’s take an aspect which is only a few years old and related to online communications: crowdsourcing. The problem is outsourced to an unknown group of solvers who submit their solutions. The contributors are sometimes compensated monetarily, sometimes their only recognition is intellectual satisfaction.

The key benefit of crowdsourcing is not primarily saving money, even when it prevents you from hiring a specialist. The driver for crowdsourcing is innovation.

This creates anew a form of transparency which we never expected in the working world.

On I came across a presentation by oDesk. oDesk is a global marketplace that helps employers hire, manage, and pay remote freelancers or teams. In their presentation they made the working world of tomorrow visible in a both compelling and entertaining way.
