Is this a great success story?

Sorry for the provocative title, but the answer is: of course it is!

It was just this week that the Swiss national newspaper „Tagesanzeiger“ (reaching up to 500’000 readers every day) published a portrait of one our EMBA graduates in its career supplement.

The young logistics manager Mate Vukorepa, currently working in a managerial position at the german HAWE Hydraulics SE, started his post-graduate education with a MSc in Management with a major in Logistics.

However, he had planned from the very beginning to make his EMBA. We are one of the few business schools which offers a consecutive curriculum. That means that we have our students start with a specialized education, say, and MSc in Management with one of four majors. Should they want to make an EMBA, they simply continue booking the missing modules to receive their EMBA, which is, as we all know, a generalist management education.

So, our graduate student Mate eventually has received two post-graduate degrees, his MSc in Management with a major in Logistics and his Executive MBA in the same time as others use for just one.

I recommend you to read his full story in the PDF below.

LEGO at the Lorange Institute

Dear reader

Not only is our business school a perfect place for management education; we equally host events on our campus which is situated directly on the lakeshore. A both beautiful and inspiring atmosphere – close to the city center and yet calm and peaceful.

The board of the Danish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce (DSHK) took the opportunity and hosted one of their events at the Lorange Institute in Horgen on 22nd November 2011.

A guest speaker, Mr. Dirk Engehausen, managing director for LEGO Central Europe and South Europe and since 2006 senior vice president at the LEGO Group had a speech on the subject “LEGO® – turnaround or a family-run concern.”

The following aperitif was another good opportunity for networking and getting to know each other better.

Our facility is open to everyone and can be rented for various occasions such as board meetings, sales events or whatever your needs are.

Handelszeitung: Das Lorange Institute of Business wagt den Spagat

Dear reader,

the renowned Zurich business newspaper “Handelszeitung” publishes twice a year a special edition labelled “MBA”. In the edition of September, 15 we were portrayed in a questioning article, titled “The Lorange Institute of Business is doing the split”. The article is in German, a translation is unfortunately not available.

In my eyes the title is wrong. What we are doing is not “doing the split” but bridging a gap. We bridge the gap between best practice and permanent education, bringing together ambitous future leaders with a sense for innovative and sustainable opportunities and high-class and both visionary and pragamtic practitioners from academia and business.

This is an innovation in the field of business school which is unique, especially in Switzerland and that makes us distinct from other schools. We quickly react on new business trends bringing forth the latest during our classes. That is the reason why we allow to call ourselves “Buisness School of the Future”. We do not recylce old cabbage. Our learning is future-oriented.

My understanding of todays post-graduate education

Dear reader

Few things are really relevant in live. But as an old „Jack Tar“ I know that only what is practical is useful. This is why what we offer is guided from the successful practitioners point.

If you plan to go on a sailing trip you need good wind to set sail. The same is true for advanced studies. What you need is the perfect timing. Time is precious. At the Lorange Institute it’s up to you when you tale what and at what pace.

Job first! Your part-time education is crucial to you. The same is important to us: We have no full-time faculty.

Surprised? In fact we are proud of this: no silos, no kingdoms, no bureaucreacy. Instead, we enjoy a stable network of the best professors in their specific fields. From all over the world. Me included.

Come on board. Let’s set sail together. We are providing academic value for good. That is: For you.
